It is an undeniable fact that it will be your fragile household items (glassware, china, delicate furniture pieces, electronic equipment and so on) that will suffer considerable damage during transportation if the required safety measures are not taken when packing them. Therefore, here are the steps you need to take in order to make sure your easily breakable belongings survive the upcoming move.

Finding proper packing supplies: bubble wrap, packing paper, packing peanuts, cardboard boxes of various sizes, packing tape and a pair of scissors. You can purchase them from the local office supply store or from a professional moving company.
Wrapping: each fragile item should be wrapped with care either by using bubble wrap or several layers of packing paper. Avoid using newsprint because it usually leaves unpleasant ink stains which you will have hard time removing later on when unpacking.
Padding: place your already wrapped delicate items in sturdy boxes of suitable sizes and make sure you provide sufficient padding with the right cushioning materials at hand – packing peanuts, crumpled packing paper, towels, socks, pieces of old clothing, etc. The idea is to fill up the empty space in the moving box so that the breakable items to be transported become completely and utterly immovable.

Taping: secure each packed box with plenty of packing tape and don’t forget to double tape the box bottoms for extra protection.
Labeling: use a marker pen and write “FRAGILE” and “THIS SIDE UP” on the top and on the sides of each ready cardboard box.
Transporting: be extra careful when you carry and load your packed fragile items onto the moving vehicle. If you’ve hired a professional team of packers and movers, you should be in good hands.
